Indeed they will. If someone else familiar with this sort of thing is able to lend a hand over there, then they might be able to continue. Narin has been gone for so long that I genuinely have no idea if and when the official database will be updated.

oh no! you should put an add in a newspaper or something. Calling all cheat creators! ;)

Oh no! Does this mean we're pretty much outta luck on our cheats then? Sad… :(

there could be someone else who can update them

What's it entail? Maybe we can do it ourselves. Isn't there already a tool for adding cheats? Perhaps we can get them together and enter them ourselves and distribute them here, using the cheats that are already on the GBATemp board?

Well, there's this thread that's just popped up on the Temp cheat forum: http://cheats.gbatemp.net/forum/index.php?topic=5053.0

We could do something similar, or do a Direct Download of files from there, like we used to do with the Temp updates, on the front page?

I think both of them are great ideas.

I had a look at the new initiative, i applaud the effort, but its still confusing to me, i rather see 1 person update the cheatfile and the rest providing that person cheat-codes…

i agree with the anonymous. let's nominate one person to put them all together and everyone else can find codes.
just to let you know, i have that program which lets you edit the cheat databases.

R4CCE is the generic cheat editor, and on TC's website there's the CycloDS' evoCheats file editor.

Just by adding in the codes for HM GB, I've found what a chore it is to manually input (New Game -> New Folder -> New Cheat (Copy + Paste code, input name + comment, repeat)) every single goddamn code in there, and that thread is going to increase intensely over a very short amount of time. So finding -working- codes, that you -know- work, then inputting them manually, for every single game, including very, very popular games, is going to get very, very tedious and very time-consuming, especially for long periods of time.

Remember why Elixir quit? http://cheats.gbatemp.net/forum/index.php?topic=4989.msg26034#msg26034

This can apply to anyone. Hell, this probably -will- apply to any one person who sticks to it for so long, it'll just vary how long it takes.

I say, if you're too lazy to update your own, fine. Don't make (ie. ask) someone else do it for you. If people out there are willing to share their database, good on them. They don't have to. They could just update their own and screw you all. Yet they don't. So if you're not happy with the databases available for your perusal, update your own. Don't whine and be all like "awwz no (insert weirdly abbreviated game title here), why nawt, gimme naoz" (pretty sure I've seen something like this, although obviously not as terribly whiny, several times on the GBATemp Cheat Forum).

Finally, at the Anonymous - What's so confusing about it?

EDIT: Oh yeah, is it possible to copy, cut, paste or move existing Codes or Folders in the database?

i agree with you ShadowValentine. i found that too when i once added in my own cheats. still, if anyone wants me to do it i will. as long as i have the software i'm happy to do it. :D

I tell you whats confusing ShadowValentine.

I had a look at the link you provided.
What i saw was a lot of updates on different evo cheatfiles.
If i want to be up to date, i have to download all evo cheat files and then merge them together somehow.

Oh, and to comment on the rest, why is it so bad if there is 1 central point where all cheats are collected and someone (or maybe it can be automated) is updating one file?
I'm not that handy with programming or scripting, but it should be possible to make something that can do that.

Isn't that what internet is for, sharing information.

That said, if nobody wants to do it anymore, its fine by me to.

@E
Actually, if you want to be up to date, you update it yourself.

And if you want it done, do it yourself. The internet is the internet, it's made of people. Sharing information is all well and good, but if you want something specific, chances are you're gonna have to do it yourself. The only motivation someone has to do something specific solely for someone else is mutual benefit, be it monetary or otherwise.

So yeah. Good luck with that.

The problem, Etheboss, is that creating an application like that takes time, effort and money. It's not quite as simple as saying "I'm going to make this program" and have it done a few hours later :(

Hee guys, let me first begin by saying that i'm not trying to upset anybody (i get the impression that i did).
I am very pleased until now about all the support from the CocloDS forum people and the DS revolution forum people.

I am maybe a bit spoiled but i'm also helping out in a Wii community, there are guys that whip up that sort of programs in an evening.

I am now trying to learn a little programming/scripting myself, so that in the near future i can hopefully make something that automatically merges the cheats/cheatfiles.

Still hope someone else is going to pick it up (you know, update only one file with input from others) in the mean time.
And thats the last thing i am going to say about it.

Read from here: http://cheats.gbatemp.net/forum/index.php?topic=4989.msg26079#msg26079
To the bottom of that page.

Or maybe the entire thread, if you haven't already. I'm just pointing out those few posts.
