Uploading Skins at CycloDS Revolution

Prerequisites

  • Must be registered at Wikidot.com (easiest way to do this is to join the site)
  • Must have made your own skin (please don't upload others' skins without permission)

How to upload

  1. Open the Skin Upload page (link also available on the Skin Gallery page)
  2. Type the name of your skin into the box and click on "new skin"
  3. Fill out the form as instructed (see Help filling out the form, below)
  4. Click on "save"
  5. Click on "files", which can be found in the box at the top of the page
  6. Click on "Upload a file from your computer" at the bottom of the page
  7. Click on "Select Files"
  8. Find your skin and click "Open"/"OK"
  9. If you have a screenshot to upload:
    1. Click on "Select Files" a second time
    2. Find your screenshot and click "Open"/"OK"
  10. Click on "Upload Files"
  11. Once it has finished uploading, press Ctrl+R (or F5) on your keyboard to refresh the page
  12. You are done. Feel free to rate your own skin or browse the rest of the website :)

Note: You should choose an image to appear for your skin on the homepage and in the skin gallery. You do this by renaming your screenshot to "preview" (remove the extension e.g. ".jpg" from the name)

Help filling out the form

After you enter your skin's name, you will be presented with a form to fill out. PLEASE NOTE that you have not uploaded your skin or a screenshot yet. This is normal.

The form that you need to fill out will look something like this:

How to add your skin to CycloDS Revolution:

❶ Complete this page and click on the Save button
❷ Upload your skin and screen shots

Follow the instructions to complete this page:

• Add your skin's filename below. It doesn't have to be a zip file (7zip or rar is fine). We recommend that you do not have any spaces in your filename. We need to know what the filename is so that we can automatically create the Download link.
• If you want to link to another website or forum, you can do that as well.
• Replace the description line with a short description of your skin, how you made it, and the images that you used.

  • You must replace the line skin-filename-goes-here.zip with the name of your compressed skin folder. You can upload the file after saving the page. You can use 7zip or rar if you want.
  • The line that has http://cyclods.wikidot.com/type-url-here on it is for external links. If you have created a skinning thread on the Team Cyclops forums, for example, you should put the link to that thread in this position. Don't change this line if you don't want to provide a link.
  • You can then replace Your skin description goes here! with a description for your skin. For example, you might want to mention why you made it and where you found the images that you used.

Now you can click on "Save" at the bottom of the edit box. Your next step is to upload your files (re-read Steps 6-13 in How to upload, above)

How to replace uploaded files

  1. Open up the page that contains your skin
  2. Click on "files", which can be found in the menu at the top of the page
  3. Click on "Upload a file from your computer" at the bottom of the page
  4. Click on "Click to switch to our old uploader"
  5. Look at the list of files already uploaded, and use that to put the name of the file you're replacing into the "Rename the uploaded file if you want to:" box. Make sure you add it exactly, including the extension (.zip is an extension)
  6. Click on "Browse…" and find the new file you want to use, then click "Open"/"OK"
  7. Click on the "Upload" button
  8. When a box appears asking you to overwrite the existing file, confirm that this is what you want to do
  9. Once it has finished uploading, press Ctrl+R (or F5) on your keyboard to refresh the page
  10. You are done. Feel free to rate your own skin or browse the rest of the website :)

If you use a browser like firefox, it should give you instructions automatically if the image doesn't appear properly. Not all browsers use the 'alt' attribute for broken images.

Just rename the file to "preview"

Hey titen, I just added a note to the page about having images named as "preview". Thanks for reminding me to add it.

can you also add for the skin file name goes here you put

that you must erase that part of the filename for it to work

where it says

your actually supposed to erase everything from your download klingk up to the skin page name

That part isn't for links. All you need to do is look at what it's called on your computer, wherever you saved it, and type that in.

I didn't think people would be getting the URL and trying to do it that way. So… you go to files, then right-click and copy the link, then paste that into the page, and delete everything except the file name?
