Rayder(actual)
Owner of a CycloDS since August of 2008 (hmm….thought it was longer than that, but oh well). I'm also a Global Moderator at GBAtemp.net. I'm a 40+ year old gamer and have been playing video games since the days of the Pong consoles.
I'm a big fan of the CycloDS's new GUI….it rocks!
I have 2 black DSlites and 2 CycloDS's. I also have an old original R4 and 3 different slot2 carts (EVFlashIV, M3 Perfect and Supercard miniSD). All my flashcarts were bought through Real Hot Stuff. My DS is my "pocket arcade"….that's what I like to call it anyway.
I don't own any current game consoles. I only game on PC (Windows based) and the DS.

Been using this to format my SD's for ages. I highly recommend it over a standard Windows format.

They weren't getting enough help at http://cheats.gbatemp.net/forum/ so they just quit bothering. Go to DS-Scene.net and get their "DS Scene ROM Tool" to get the latest cheats now.

DS-Scene has updated cheats. Currently at 6/30/11.

The link is IN the pic, click where it says "DL CycloDS"
I don't think they like people re-hosting them anywhere though. I also believe you have to be registered there to access the download. I don't know, maybe the admin here can work something out with the admin there or something…..just a thought.
Even though I initially created GBAtemp's cheat dat database, I haven't been involved with it since I passed it to Narin quite a while ago, so I really don't have a clue what's going on with the lack of updates from GBAtemp.
Re: New Card Research
19 Dec 2010 03:22 (19 Dec 2010 03:22) in response to New Card Research
I've bought a total of about a dozen flashcarts (for me and friends) from RealHotStuff. Never had a problem and always got my stuff in about a week.
Every last flashcart I choose on ShopTemp says, "We are sorry, but this product is currently out of stock and cannot be ordered." in a little pop-up window. The only thing I've ever bought from ShopTemp was replacement 2000mah battery for my DSlite, which is working very well. I received it 9 days from purchase date.
This doesn't seem to work for me. I got all those BIOS files it wanted (didn't actually check CRC's though) and stuck them in the folder like they said. I can choose a game and it goes back to the menu and says the game is selected, but when I hit the power button on the menu (to run the game, presumably), it brings up the keyboard display and appears to lock up. I have never seen anything displayed in the top screen with this program yet.
Is there some kind of file limit on the amount of games you can have in the folder or something? I whittled it down from over 700 games to less than 250, nothing. I tried running the msxDS.nds file both clean and DLDI patched, but it didn't make any difference (CycloDS auto-DLDI patches anyway). Initially, I had the msxDS.nds file in a folder, but I also tried putting it in the root of the SD, no difference. Is there a certain method to booting games on it and I'm just doing it wrong or something or what?
Basically, no matter what I do, the last line of the message in the bottom of the touchscreen says "LoadROM Start" (it scrolled a bunch of other stuff first though: Load CMOS.ROM, buncha other stuff, etc.) and then it just sits there….I can't soft reset the Cyclo, no reactions to anything on the screen, top-screen remains blank, just frozen until I turn it off.
Maybe I should try it in my old R4? Does Wood Firmware auto-DLDI patch homebrew?
EDIT: OK, got it working…..apparently I had a bad kanjidrv.rom file. Once I replaced that, everything started working. Seems to run very well too.
Re: GBA Flashcart Compatibility
23 Nov 2010 13:28 (23 Nov 2010 13:28) in response to GBA Flashcart Compatibility
Well, I have an M3 Perfect, a Supercard and an EZFlash IV. All of them are the miniSD versions that are full GBA-sized carts. They all work fine with the CycloDS. I can boot any of them in NDS or GBA mode from the CycloDS menu. For some reason, the EZF has issues going into NDS mode sometimes, but I think that's the EZF itself and not the CycloDS. I have been able to DLDI patch the Opera Web Browser to work with each of them and use the memory of the slot2 cart so it would work. I know NeoDS will use the Supercard and M3's memory automatically as an extra file cache, never tested that on the EZF though.
Is flashing GBA games/homebrew from slot1 to a dedicated slot2 what you were talking about? I never tried that. Since they are dedicated slot2 carts (unlike the 3in1), I don't need to flash GBA roms to their memory from the slot1 cart. I already have them loaded up with whatever games/homebrew I wanted on them. Each cart has it's own 2gig SD with hundreds of games/apps/emulators pre-loaded into it.
Re: DiagnoSe
22 Nov 2010 04:03 (22 Nov 2010 04:03) in response to DiagnoSe
No, but if you or a friend with a DS has some issue come up, or is buying a used DS, it's useful to have the app on hand to test with to diagnose any problems. It's not an everyday use type of app, nor will it be used very often (or ever), but it's good to have if you need it. The file hardly takes any space on a SD card (especially SDHC), so always having it available on a flashcart is as easy as tucking it away in a folder. Even a place like Gamestop would have to appreciate the use of a diagnostic tool before making a purchase.

I highly recommend using this program when buying a used DS or DSlite. It will easily let you confirm if all functions of the DS are working properly before you buy it. DiagnoSe is the best diagnostic tool for the DS available from the homebrew community. This is a must-have app and everyone reading this should already have this on their CycloDS.
Re: Formatting
12 Nov 2010 18:50 (12 Nov 2010 18:50) in response to Formatting? Defragmenting?
It was always my understanding that defragmenting a SD card with a standard hard drive defragmenter is a bad idea because it is very hard on the SD card and could cause it to fail prematurely. The BEST way to effect a defrag on an SD is to copy everything from it to your computer, then format the SD and copy everything back from the PC to the SD.

TC's forum has been down about a month now, I believe. You know, for their final act, they should release the source code so at least DS hackers might be able to continue updating the EVO/iEVO. I don't think they're coming back this time.

So much for that rumor that TC planned to update by the end of September, eh? Meh, I'm pretty much done with the DS anyway….bought a PSP and hacked it. Plenty of non-cutesy games on PSP.

Check this out! While the thread is primarily about the EDGE cart, there's a possible light at the end of the tunnel for TC. A discussion at GBAtemp suggests we may see an update for EVO/iEVO by the end of September.

Well, what do you know, I'm finally re-validated at TC forums, fat lot of good it does for anything since they have seemingly gone. I could log in but couldn't post. I had to change my email address again, using my spam address this time and got the validation email I never received at my official address. Funny thing, my spam address is one I thought was disallowed at TC. Weird. Anyway, now I don't have to log in there as some bugmenot address anymore just to post, so yay.

To anyone who's ever gotten a recent response from TC about anything, what email address did you contact them through? I'm still trying to get my account at TC forums re-validated after having to change my email address months ago. Their forum never sent me a validation email to confirm and I've been unable to post or reply there ever since, though I can login. I've PM'd Evolution several times to no avail. It's not like I used one of those banned email hosts or anything, I used my official ISP address. ~sigh~

Yeah, I'm still waiting for my TC forum account to be re-validated too. All I did was change my email address, since I changed ISP's, and now I can't post there, though I'm still logged in. That's just ridiculous. It sucks not being able to help people or confirm issues people complain about. It makes it quite obvious (to me anyway) that TC doesn't really care anymore.

Any TC forum mods here? I changed my email address at TC forums and now my account there is invalid….I never got a confirmation email. I'm Rayder there, if that's important. I tried contacting admin there, but never got a reply. I know they block certain domain names, but I'm using my official ISP email address there, so it shouldn't be a problem. It shows me as logged in, but I can't post or reply there anymore. Can someone here help me?
