You've done a great job with the website! :) Had a quick look just now, but will definitely be visiting it later today for another look.

Do you use the program SolidWorks to create your paper craft?

I'm glad you like my website. :)

For my papercraft, I use Blender to create my 3D models and un-wrap them, and I use Illustrator to lay out and position the un-wrapped models for optimal surface area usage on the page. I also use Illustrator to create the PDFs when I'm happy with the layout on the page.

I've got a question for you though…
Where have you been finding the template for the screenshot PNGs you use on the skins here? I can't seem to find it, and I would like to make one for this skin so the preview is not so distorted. If there is no template for them, how are you generating these?

Go to this page and download CycloDS Evolution Skin Tester 1.7 - it was created by a member of the Team Cyclops forums a few years ago and all credit goes to them.

Run the program and load your skin using "Tools" > "Load Skin" - then load the skin.xml file
Generate a .png screenshot by going to "Tools" > "Screenshots" > "All Views (Composed)"

Normally the screenshot is a better quality than the one I just uploaded, but I edited this to decrease quality first so it loads faster.

Ahh, yes that would be a problem :) You could try using WINE ? Or even better, if you have the time to write up your own application for mac users and submit it to the CycloDS community, I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it. There are a lot of other Mac users with a CycloDS.

edit: Just noticed that you specialise in web programming, not application development. Not sure what is possible in that area as I tend to focus more on building software.

Have been intending to buy a Mac for a long time but haven't done so yet.

As for Blender … I've heard a lot about it in the past but haven't actually tried it. It's downloading now. As I'm using Windows, I assume I need to install Python 2.6 as well… :/

Eh… I'm not exactly interested in all of the pain it would take to configure WINE on my system.
I've set it up on a few Linux boxes in the past, but the buggy results were not worth the effort in the end.

Could I write up my own in PHP?
Yeah, sure I'm capable of it, but that's a project for a time when I don't have getting a new portfolio together to worry about. And when I feel like reading the documentation on GD again. Yeah, that will be a few years.

Blender is pretty great. If you have somewhere to learn about it;
Its user interface can be pretty cryptic and frightening to those not used to it already.
If you're going to try to learn it, you should absolutely start with some of the video tutorials that you can find at:
