this happened to me to my gba gamea would start up but it wouldnt save but that happened months ago
None of my GBA games won't save!!! Help!!

Did you ever got the gba games to save? Another thing are you suppose to see GBA_SAVE folder with the other files on the cyclods?

I did read somewhere that it might be the battery in my 3 iin 1, but if that's the case wouldn't I be not able to write the gba to it.
Actually, I think this might be your problem.
When the Nintendo DS is on, the 3-in-1 is powered by the DS and therefore it works fine. You can put GBA games on it and play them immediately. GBA games are stored in NOR or PSRAM if I remember correctly, which doesn't need a battery to remember the game stored there.
Save files however, are stored elsewhere and they do need the battery. Saves are stored in your microSD when you next boot up your CycloDS, so in between turning the DS off and back on again I believe your save is being lost/forgotten by the 3-in-1.
I would suggest trying this: Saves not working? Change your EZFlash 3-in-1 battery!
But beforehand, do a quick check of your config.xml file and make sure that gbaSavePath looks like this:

do they make 3-in-1's anymore? i don't have one. it's for GBA games, right?

As far as I know, they still continue to make and sell the 3-in-1 Plus version but the original has been discontinued. Only difference is the components inside (i.e. more memory) - the sticker on the outside doesn't indicate that it's an upgrade over the original in any way.

Actually they've discontinued the plus version and recontinued the normal version.

Well, I don't know, perhaps it costed more to manufacture the 3in1s with the extra NOR? I do know that the EZ Flash V firmware used to support all 64MB of the 3in1+s NOR(it allowed people to flash two games to the NOR, it was only ever useful for developers) but it was dropped for some reason…

Still can not save gba games. I followed the steps in changing the battery very carefully, but still won't save. One question are these two folders suppose to show up after starting the cyclods GBA_SAVE and GBA_SIGN everything else shows up. Can't remember if they ever showed up. Only know that they are on my microsd card. The kind of card I'm using is a kingston 8gb microsdhc 4. Anyone got any ideas what to do? One more thing can't save when I write the game to NOR. The game does play but don't save……

Have you tried checking the config.xml file as I suggested above?
Also, do you see any message on the screen while booting the CycloDS up, after playing a GBA game? It should say something like "SRAM backup" when it is loading, before the main menu appears.

I checked config.xml file everything is right. No it don't say 'SRAM backup' after I play gba game, I know it did say that before, though… Well I guess I look more into this during the day today. Got to go bed, and thanks for answering me.

The "SRAM backup" message usually indicates that everything is working fine. If the message doesn't appear, that usually indicates that the battery in your 3-in-1 needs replacing.
Yet, you've replaced the battery and the message still doesn't show up any more for you? Not sure what else to suggest then, sorry.

Last week I just notice that I can't save my gba games anymore. I had firmware 1.59 then I thought maybe updated to b.4 beta, but still the same. So right now I'm still with b.4 beta. GBA_Save folder isn't showing up on my cyclods, only when I stick it in my card reader that I got with my cyclods. Now I don't remember if it ever showed that folder in the first place. I tried everything. I have a gba game already on my 3 in 1 expansion and i can play but no save. It is a year I have both. So I know a lot about cyclods, well I guess not enough. I did read somewhere that it might be the battery in my 3 iin 1, but if that's the case wouldn't I be not able to write the gba to it. Well any help would be great.
