i would say yes. demo roms are the demopacks that they release to the stores to put up for wifi, right? so your technically not supposed to have them to begin with.

now… all nitpicking aside, i'd say it's better than downloading full games. but it still is licensed material and you have to play by their rules. (some game demo's are for sale, like GT5 prolouge<poor example>, it'd be illegal to download that free, even though it's technically a demo. we call for-sale-demo's ripoffs)

i've heard thats exactly why slot-1 shops are getting banhammered, because it's an unlicensed product. are there other unlicensed products? yes, but they don't do what a slot-1 can so they don't get attention.

please correct me as you see fit. if you know more… contribute.

As far as I know, both the Nintendo Channel itself and the demos on it are free. You can't really get them that way if you don't have a Wii so I don't see a problem with that. I remember downloading earlier PSP demos and just copying them to the memory stick to play…kinda the same thing…?

if you have a wii and download the demo's… it's perfectly legal.

no, with DS they are downloaded into RAM and wiped as soon as you turn it off. no way of copying i dont believe.

It's possible to take a Download Station card and dump the data on it.

When it comes to downloading demos, if you're downloading free demos from the Nintendo Channel (which is an official channel) then of course it's legal.

Definitely sounds like you're in the clear to me. I don't know much about the Wii, but if it's an official channel run by Nintendo (available on an un-hacked Wii console) …. then anything they let you download there is fine.

P.S. Get an Xbox 360 and Kinect! :)
