Update regarding DSi-enhanced compatibility
Team Cyclops previously reported that the CycloDS iEvolution includes DSi-enhanced support for homebrew, and we also announced that here.
A few days ago the team wrote that in regards to getting this working for commercial ROMs, they "[have] been working hard to implement this feature to reward our loyal customers for their patience and support. We hope to please our users by announcing that BETA support is now in place for properly dumped DSi-enhanced ROM’s and this will be available ON RELEASE of the iEVO (for USA and European consoles)."
Just as we have seen in the past with the team's support of the CycloDS (although there have been some concerns by users recently), Team Cyclops has said that they "will continue to improve and support DSi-enhanced ROM’s in the future" and that other regions of DSi consoles will also get this functionality soon.
In regards to DSiWare, Team Cyclops has stated that they are "currently investigating this and hope to be able to support this feature in the future."
Shipping has been delayed
"Owing to shortages of one component used in manufacturing the iEVO cartridge, manufacturing has been delayed by about a month, meaning that shipments of the product will first be shipped second week January. We apologize to resellers and customers alike, however this is beyond our control."
The above message was posted on cyclopsds.com at the same time as the announcement regarding DSi-enhanced compatibility.
Unfortunately, you won't be getting your iEvolution in time for Christmas.
Time for some last-minute shopping to find an alternative gift. Perhaps they'll be happy with a brand new Nintendo DSi? (though the price tag is a lot higher)
