So it seems that the CycloDS iEvolution works with the 3DS!

Quoted from Team Cyclops' site:

CycloDS iEvolution running on 3DS in DSL mode on stock bootstrap and 2.1 firmware, no changes necessary - it just works. Unfortunately DSi mode is unable to be tested at the current time due to the lack of a Japanese region bootstrap.

Of course, a video has yet to surface; though the picture itself should be proof enough.

Anything new on how the DSi functions work?

Should I invest in a 3DS and a CycloDSI chip right now or should I wait to see if the chip stays compatible with newer 3DS firmware?

It's entirely up to you. I haven't got any of that fancy equipment yet.

I guess a better question to ask would have to be; what's the likelihood of the CycloDSI chip being compatible for the 3DS' lifetime?

It's likely. Give TC a few months once the 3DS is out to come up with something and, hopefully, it will be for the iEvo.

I'm assuming that the cyclodsi has been tested out on us models and does not brick the 3ds?

bricking it would involve the cart trying to update firmware i believe, and the cyclods doesn't do that at all. Then again I'm no expert either.
