Following the advice of an anonymous visitor, I'm posting this short announcement to raise awareness of how to fix a CycloDS that won't start up (whether it be caused by turning the DS off mid-update, or for some other reason).

Try this:

  1. Delete the CycloDS folder
  2. Put the latest stable update.evo file on the microSD root
  3. Plug the CycloDS into your DS (with microSD inserted) and hold down DOWN+B to force it to reinstall the firmware
  4. If that works, try installing the latest beta (if you want to)

For more tips and help with some other common problems, please have a look at our FAQ section!

The update keeps freezing midway, even with reformatting via SDFormatter.

Do I have to reformat every time until it works?

I have the same problem: CycloDS freezes midway installation process.
I tried every stabel firmware there is and they all do the same: they freeze

Can you specify when exact we should push and hold down+B to force te reinstalletion?
So you put the latest stable update.evo file onte SD-card
then you put te CycloDS in the DS
you switch on the DS
….
when exact do I have to push and hold down+B???

did anyone try and had any succes?

hoping for a solution
Thanks in advance,
kind regards
Tine

@Anonymous #1: You should not have to format at all, the above instructions should work if your card is still functional.

@Anonymous #2: As soon as you launch the CycloDS from the native DS menu, hold DOWN+B while it's loading and keep holding it down. If you have the previous stable firmware on the microSD card (and if there is nothing stopping it from reading the microSD card) then the CycloDS should be forced to re-install that firmware.

It's a safety/backup feature added to the CycloDS by TC.

If you still have problems with this, I will record a video and upload it to the site's YouTube channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/CycloDSRevolution … let me know if you want me to do this.

Hope that helps ;-)

Hmm, that's a strange way to get it working :) Lucky for you it worked though.
